The 3D augmented reality (AR) animated sculpture, “Rosetta Stones Resurrected,” was featured in the opening exhibition, “Art Must Be Artificial: Perspectives of AI in the Visual Arts,” of the new Diriyah Art Futures Museum in Saudi Arabia. For this exhibition, I created my first 3D hologram (50 inches in diameter) of a network of one millions records of new multidimensional data analysis of social media data. The exhibition held in April 2024 at the Diriyah Art Futures Museum represents a pivotal moment for the country’s cultural and artistic ambitions, as it aims to position itself as a global hub for digital and new media art. Located in the historic area of Diriyah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the museum serves as a bridge between tradition and cutting-edge technologies. Its establishment reflects Saudi Arabia’s broader Vision 2030 initiative, which seeks to invest heavily in the arts, education, and innovation. Being featured in its opening exhibition is highly significant for any artist. This institution is poised to become one of the most important cultural centers in the region, attracting global attention to contemporary art practices, particularly those involving AI and digital technology. Participation in this inaugural exhibition not only provides immense exposure but also associates the featured artists with the museum’s forward-thinking mission and the larger transformation of Saudi Arabia into a leader in the global art scene. The museum’s collaborations with esteemed international partners, such as Skira Editore and Hatje Cantz, further underscore its credibility and ambition, making participation in its exhibitions a prestigious and career-defining opportunity.
